Monticello City Council meeting 8-28-18
The Monticello City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor David Anderson at 6:02 p.m. Tuesday night and the minutes from last months meeting were approved. Nita McDaniel, Executive Director of the Monticello Economic Development Commission was out of town on business so, City Property Inspector Brian Rodgers told the council her report was in their packet and stated that he was working on a few Ordinance #630 violations.
Dr. Joe Miles addressed the council members with a request to build a tri-plex within approximately 40 feet of the center of a city street near his office on Hyatt Street. Currently, city law states that no structure shall be closer than 50 feet from the center of a city street. After much discussion, the council members moved to do research on this proposal and did not make a final decision last night.
Four resolutions were passed:
• a bid to repaint and repair the water tank at UAM
• a bid for the replacement of water lines on Pope Street
• a lien imposed on 319 Godbold Street
• a lien imposed on 528 South Bell Street
