Hill receives second GAC weekly award
RUSSELLVILLE—University of Arkansas at Monticello forward Derylton Hill has been named the Great American Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this winter, it was announced Monday by the league office.
Hill, a senior, averaged 28 points, 9.5 rebounds and shot 74 percent from the floor to help lead UAM over GAC opponents Arkansas Tech University and Harding University at home this past week. He also shot 10-for-11 from the free-throw line, along with five assists, three steals and one block.
The Palm Bay, Fla. native posted a double-double against Tech, recording 24 points and 11 rebounds in the 94-72 home victory. He followed that performance up with a career afternoon against Harding, scoring 32 points, pulling down eight boards and dishing out three assists.
“We are thrilled for Derylton on receiving the GAC Player of the Week,” UAM head men’s basketball coach Kyle Tolin said. “He has really played well our last three games and has helped our team win. We need him to continue to step up and play well. It is always good to see guys getting individual honors for our teams’ success.”
