City of Monticello issues boil water alert in Spring Branch subdivision
Due to a water main break that occurred Wednesday afternoon in the Spring Branch subdivision, the city of Monticello has issued a "precautionary boil water notice" for the area.
The busted water main has had a negative affect with customers in the Spring Branch, Tennessee Spur, and sports complex areas.
"All affected customers are advised that the water may be unsafe for human consumption," said the notice. "Water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use."
The notice will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected, an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.
