Drew Central Board opens custodial bids at Thursday's board meeting
The Drew Central School Board opened bids from four custodial services during Thursday night's regular board meeting.
Mike Johnston, superintendent, said all four services came into the district on the same day and were given the exact same specifications as to what needed to be done daily in each building.
"We were very specific in what we are asking them to do," Johnston said.
Johnston asked that the board not make any decisions on the custodial service yet until they can further evaluate the bids to make sure they entail everything the district wants done. Since he opened the bids at the meeting and announced the total, he did not have time to make sure everything was as specified.
The bids were the following for one year of cleaning:
• Service Group 350 of Jonesboro – $219,845.77
• Service Master of Pine Bluff – $199,206
• Dial Building Services of Little Rock – $355,428
• GCA of Knoxville, Tenn. – $211,867.80
Johnson added that The District had requested that the service give the employees an opportunity to work for them and if they do so, keep them at their same salary. However, he is not sure the bids include the same salaries or not.
He added the bids do include supplies, chemicals, labor, medical insurance, worker's compensation and retirement.
