DCSO requesting public's help
The Drew County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public's help after two calls reporting shots fired in a two hour time frame in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Nov. 2.
In a press release, the DCSO reported the first call, which was made at approximately 1:15 am on Florence Road, didn’t result in any damage.
“The caller stated shots were fired from a dark color two door car,” the release read. “No vehicles or homes were struck by gunfire.”
It was about 30 minutes later when DCSO Deputy Doug Stark was dispatched to a residence in Monticello in reference to a vehicle being struck by gunfire. The victim, a 57 year old Monticello resident, stated a dark color passenger car passed by while she was parked at the intersection of Wilson Mill Road and Midway Route.
“The victim stated a dark color passenger car passed by and she heard gunfire coming from the passenger side of the vehicle as it passed,” the release says.
The victim then drove home and contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Upon inspection of the vehicle, Stark observed a bullet hole to the driver’s side fender and a bullet hole to the cab of the vehicle.
The DCSO is asking anyone who may have any information concerning either incident to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 870-367-6211.
