High-speed chase ends in Drew County
According to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, the department was alerted to a high-speed chase by Ashley County sheriffs deputies early Monday morning. The suspects were heading North on U.S. Hwy 425 in an alleged stolen vehicle. Drew Co. deputies were able to stop the vehicle by using “spike strips”, which resulted in four deflated tires. The male driver and a female passenger were apprehended at the scene and turned over to Ashley County officials. A second female passenger fled on foot. She was apprehended later that morning South of Monticello and later released.
“High speed chases are always dangerous,” Gober stated. “I am thankful that the suspects were caught and there were no injuries.”
