A broken window was one of the signs a local pharmacy had been burglarized in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 12. Evidence left behind inside and outside the pharmacy was another sign. One that has helped the Monticello Police Department in their investigation.
According to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, the early morning burglary happened around 4:30 in the morning and the suspects were in store for less than a minute. However, since then the MPD has spoken to witness and already has a few suspects in the case.
The burglary is currently under investigation and Akers stated more information would be released once an arrest has been made.
In other police news, MPD announced the recovery of several firearms stolen from a local sporting goods store as well as an arrest of a suspect in the case.
Keuntre Arberry, age 30, was arrested on Wednesday, May 6 for Commercial Burglary and theft charges. A bond of $25,000 was set on the warrant of arrest.
The arrest follows after Monticello Police recovered 10 firearms and three suppressors/silencers on Sunday, May 3, after help from citizens in the community.
One arrest in connection with the case had previously been made the day of the burglary, and Akers says more arrests will most likely follow.
