A stolen truck and violence has kept Monticello Police Department busy in the passed week.
Within minutes of a Monticello City employee’s truck being stolen near McCloy Park inside a gated area, an arrest of a Pine Bluff man was made.
Larry Peifer, 50, of Pine Bluff, was arrested after a MPD Detective observed the stolen vehicle parked roughly a mile away at a local business during a search for the vehicle. After speaking with citizens at the business, the detective identified the last person seen driving the vehicle. The keys to the stolen vehicle were then located in the suspect’s pocket.
Peifer has been charged with theft of property under $5,000, breaking or entering and criminal trespassing. Bond was set at $15,000.
Weekend violence resulted in an investigation of a Monticello woman for drugs and firearms charges. The warrant was partly in connection with incidents over the weekend. In those incidents, victims reported Gold brandished and fired a wagon at them.
Law enforcement officers located an AR15 rifle, a handgun agents believe was used in the weekend incidents, methamphetamine, ecstasy tablets and marijuana, as well as related drug paraphernalia.
