Schools shine a light on Seniors

For some students the end of the school year hit a little harder than for others, especially those who were in their senior year of high school and college. Spring sports, proms, graduation ceremonies, all disappeared overnight.
In an effort to recognize those students who are missing out on so many of American society's milestones, the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Monticello High School and Drew Central High School will be honoring the graduating class of 2020 by turning all stadium lights on for 20 minutes on Friday, April 17 at 2020 ZULU, or 8:20 p.m. for us civilians.
The schools, along with the city of Monticello and Drew County invite the community to join in by turning on their porch lights at this time.
"Our classrooms may be empty and dark," reads a flyer announcing the event, "but these lights will represent a beacon of hope to shine on our seniors in this difficult time. Our hearts are with you, seniors."
