Tipline leads to arrest

One burglary suspect, Omarion Foster, 18, was arrested last week by the Monticello Police Department and the Federal Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms following an early morning burglary of a local sporting goods store Thursday, April 23.
Numerous handguns were stolen in the burglary, according to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, some of which have been recovered.
“The first arrest was made late Thursday afternoon,” said Akers. “More arrests will follow.”
Foster faces charges of commercial burglary and felony theft. Foster received a $25,000 bond. Akers cited help from local citizens, the Police Department Crime Tip Line, media outlets (MLive and Advance) and the police department’s social media as contributing to the quick arrest
“The agents with ATF that co-investigated the burglary with MPD were phenomenal in both investigative ability and professionalism,” said Akers.
