Annamae Copeland Sawyer
Annamae Copeland Sawyer, 91, of Monticello passed away Monday, September 9, 2019 at Drew Memorial Health System in Monticello. She was born May 12, 1928 in Amity (Clark County) to the late Lendon Copeland and Ethel Isom Copeland.
She was the widow of Horace V. “Punk” Sawyer Jr. and a retired financial secretary for First Baptist Church of Monticello. She was an active member of Second Baptist Church, where she served as greeter for many years.
Mrs. Annamae also served on the “We are Monticello” committee and DMHS Auxiliary for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Linnie Copeland Hilton Orr.
Survivors include two sons, Eldon (Retha) Sawyer and Jimmy (Kara) Sawyer, both of Monticello; six grandchildren, Tom (Kelli) Sawyer, Ellen (Jake) Tinnell, Laura Sawyer, Ryan Sawyer, Kristen (Alex) Harvey and Kari (C.J.) Harris; and nine great-grandchildren, Landon, Kate, Parker, Emalee, Sidney, Hudson, Hadleigh, Camden and Kash.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial following in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
