Clydine Clanton Jones
Clydine Clanton Jones, 97, of Monticello, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Woods Nursing and Rehab. She was born Feb. 13, 1922 in Ingles, to the late Virgil A. Clanton and Malissa Measel Clanton.
She was the widow of Joseph P. Jones, who was born in South Hill, Va. in 1917.
Clydine was a Presbyterian, a kindergarten teacher, a school teacher and a music teacher. She worked for Pomeroy and McGowin and retired as secretary to the Registrar at the University of Arkansas at Monticello after 21 years of service.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Howell Clanton. Survivors include one son, Tom Jones, 75, of Monticello; and two nephews, Dan and Duane Clanton and their families. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home.
