Jerry Dewayne Penick
Jerry Dewayne Penick, 74, of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019 at his home. He was born Oct. 14, 1945 in Monticello to the late Harold Penick and Ethel Inez Jeffers Brantley.
He was a retired salvage dealer and was of the Baptist faith. Jerry was a very jolly man with many friends. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, wheeling and dealing and loved going to the casino.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Amber Penick; and two brothers, Harold Clyde Penick and Billy Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Lawanda Cater Penick, of Monticello; one son, Jerry Lee (Kelly) Penick, of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Penny (Kelvin) Williams, of Monticello; five grandchildren, Christopher, Anthony, Jerrick, Martavious and Alexis; one great-grandchild, Charli; two sisters, Ruthie Scroggins, of Bastrop, La., and Shirley (Dewey) McClure, of Smackover; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial following in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
