Madeline Allison Gibson
Madeline Allison Gibson, 94, of Monticello passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 at The Woods of Monticello Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 29, 1924 in the Florence Community in Drew County to the late Rev. Emmett Dayton Allison and Esther Whitaker Allison.
She was the widow of Floyd Thomas Gibson, retired manager of Selma Mercantile, Postmaster, bus driver and cafeteria worker at Drew Central Schools and a longtime member of Selma Baptist Church, where she led the singing for many years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Lee Odell Gibson; six brothers, Dayton Allison, Harry Allison, Glynn Allison, Flenore Allison, Odell Allison and Adrian Allison; and one sister, Earnestine Chesser.
Survivors include two sons, Glynn Allison (Ruth) Gibson and Hal Floyd (Susan) Gibson, both of Selma; one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Jones Gibson of Selma; five grandchildren, Michele Gibson (David) Webb, Brian (Abby) Gibson, Joshua (Crystal) Gibson and Cory Gibson (Adam) Ferrell, all of Selma, and Amy Gibson (Eran) Kilpatrick of Walterboro, S.C.; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank The Woods of Monticello Health and Rehabilitation Center and staff for the excellent care they gave to our Mother.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
