Obituary: Arceola “A.C.” Simpson, Jr., 70
Arceola “A.C.” Simpson, Jr., 70, was born on April 30, 1950 in Drew County. He died Jan. 31, at Baptist Medical Hospital in North Little Rock.
Simpson was a retired Head of Department and Supervisor of Burlington Industries for 33 years. He started as an auxiliary officer with the Drew County Sheriff’s Office in 1985 and became full time in 2001, advancing to position of sergeant. He was president of the local bowling league and was recently inducted to the Arkansas Bowler’s Hall of Fame. He also worked with Special Olympics and was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, AC Simpson Sr. and Martha Simpson; two brothers, Johnny and Prima Lee Simpson; niece, Nicole Miller-Cook; and his in-laws, Lewis and Bobbie Jean Miller, of Fountain Hill.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years; Lillie J. Simpson, of Monticello; daughter, Angelia Smith (Don), of Pine Bluff; son, Curtis Simpson (Angel), of Rockwall, Texas; five brothers, Juan Simpson, Sammy Joe Simpson and Eugene Simpson (Dale), all of Monticello, Charles Simpson, of Chicago and David Simpson (Marilyn), of Detroit; five sisters, Carrie Mae Collins, of Detroit; Mae Ruth Jones, Linda Kay Simpson, Mae Lee Miller (Jerry) and Onnie Simpson, all of Monticello; and five grandchildren.
There will be no funeral services per his request, instead there will be a home going prayer at this favorite lake near the Pendleton Lock & Dam at the Buzzard Beach Lake near Dumas Saturday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m.
