Patricia Busby Akin
Patricia “Pat” Busby Akin, 76, of Monticello, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Drew Memorial Health System in Monticello. She was born August 16, 1942 in Little Rock to the late Dr. Arlee Kelton Busby Sr. and Louise Yocum Busby.
She was the widow of George Robert Akin Sr., a retired school teacher, receiving her bachelor’s degree in Education at the University of Arkansas at Monticello and a master’s degree in Special Education at University of Arkansas at Little Rock and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Jeff Busby.
Survivors include her son, George Robert (Cindy) Akin Jr. of Monticello; her daughter, Anita Akin (Drew) Tennyson of El Dorado; five grandchildren, Justin Michael (Kimberly) Evans of Junction City, Ashley Evans (Larry) Kussman of Warren, Britni Akin of Fort Collins, Colo., Kinsley Akin (Hunter) Vickers of Monticello and Tess Tennyson of El Dorado; seven great-grandchildren, Claire Evans, Jake Evans, Owen Evans, Sarah Evans, Adam Kussman, Brycen Kussman and Boston Akin; three brothers, Kelton (Betty) Busby Jr. of Monticello; Dr. Bo (Nena) Busby of Little Rock and Bill (Roselyn) Busby of Monticello; three sisters, Susan Wooldridge of Bella Vista, Melissa (Sonny) Claycomb of Conway and Jana (Daron) Calhoun of The Woodlands, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were Sunday, June 23, 2019 at First Baptist Church with burial following in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday evening at the funeral home.
