Arkansas State Horse Show Association Junior Barrel Racing State Champion
Mary Mencer (sitting atop her horse, Roy) won the overall title in in Junior Barrel Racing at the 56th annual Arkansas State Horse Show Association State Championship Horse Show over Labor Day weekend. Mencer turned in a time of 16.035 seconds to win the state competition in this highly competitive class. She topped 59 other riders in her group.
All four classes of barrel racing had a full card as well, and the daughter of Susan and David Mencer of Monticello’s posted time held up to be the fastest across all age groups, .060 over her nearest competitor.
Mencer is the granddaughter of Olan and Tootle Mencer of Lake Village, and the late Jerry and Josetta Pace, also of Lake Village.
Other Southeast Arkansas Horse Show Association team members that qualified for the state championship pole bending and barrel speed competitions in various age groups include: Charlie Jo Fletcher, Cole Fletcher, Charlie Brewton, Sophia Rowland, Carter Brewton-Gray, Lucy Cingolani, Chloe Joe Pinkus, Caroline Wilson, Jeorgia Anne Floyd, Annsley Olivi, Dixie Brownlee, Ashley Brewton, Mallory Haire, Neelie Minor (who was the Junior Pole Champion), Samantha Matthews, Jayce Drennan, Jaclyn Vagts, Jane Ellen Floyd, MyLynn Holstead, Bliss Porterfield, Kaylee Evans, Josie Claire Floyd, Skyler Hill, Jillian Rauls, Rose Mencer (Mary’s older sister), Tara Gladden, Brittney Miller, Alana McManus and Shelby Ashcraft.
